This blog used to be craftingdawntilldusk, this is my new blog with new content. This new content is aimed towards recipes and things I've picked up around the internet about living and eating a Free From diet. Free from gluten, dairy, eggs, and oats. This is very similar to a gluten free vegan diet. From which I've collected loads of info. I will be having a page with links to useful sites.

The Craft Barn Dictionary

Hello, I'm sharing the altered dictionary pages being shown today on The Craft Barn Blog . It was F and I'd chosen Fish. I've taken a mixed media approach. Using watercolours, Brushos, paint, crackle paint, Decoart Media texture sand paste, gilding wax, yellow and Star Dust Stickles Glitter glue all round. Along with stamping script and dotty circles from PaperArtsy Darcy stamps for the background, it was joined by a fish courtesy of Lindsay Mason Zendoodles Fish stamp set.
My Mr Fish is sending us lots of love to the surface. Lol.
Everything I used plus lots more crafty goodness is available at The Craft Barn Shop Here.
I enjoyed making this. Hope you like it too.

Paperbabe Stamps Anything Goes

Hello my craft friends. It's time for the latest challenge at Paperbabe Stamps blog and this fortnight we have the theme of: Anything Goes. So do come and join in, you could win a prize. There are an array of delicious inspirational ideas for you to see from the design team. Also check out the latest NEW RELEASES. They are awesome. Go shopping HERE with PAPERBABE STAMPS

This butterfly is one I have had in mind to do since I saw the template. I can also see a shoe, elephant and even a sleigh from just the one wing. I'm also thinking shrink plastic???? It's different and it's certainly useful. So go buy it.

Here I have created a large journal page using the Mixed Media Winter Fairy Wing Template with parchment paper to make a butterfly and put this onto a background that uses the Art Quote To Draw rubber stamp and Design A Tweed Clear stamp set. The background started with inks and sprays and gold embossing powder, then some painty layers and stamping with paint with tweed and script stamp repeatedly to finish off. I added some pink glitter accents and also the words fly, butterfly written with a glue pen and glittered.
I decided to keep the butterfly simple with a few lines and clear sparkle pen over the top.
The page in real life is much brighter and lush layers.

I hope you like it.

The Craft Barn Love

Hi everyone, at The Craft Barn Blog we had the very apt topic of Loved Up. I'm lucky that my home may be upside down like me but it's filled with Love.
I made a card for my project using one of the new releases from PaperArtsy JOFY. I was going for something a bit grungy and different. Stamping and colouring  my images and words onto book pages. You can see a breakdown of how I made it over on the blog.
Do check out The Craft Barn website for new products and lots and lots more.

Paperbabe Stamps Love Challenge

Today is the start of a new challenge at the PAPERBABE STAMPS BLOG. It's a great theme, LOVE.
Do come and check it out and the inspiration from the team is awesome. You'll also get to see the latest new digi stamp.

I've created a card and I just love this character.
I've used watercolours to paint MayLeeDee in Wonderland, red rubber stamp (there is also a sentiment include in set) masking off the bottle and adding an embossed heart from the Folk Fabrique stamp set in its place. Placed on a background I've made with a Tando heart stencil then overlaying with Herringbone Mixed Media Stencil. I've then added lots of dots of Diamond Stickles to complete the background. You can see all Paperbabe Stamps products here.

Thanks for popping by today

The Craft Barn Triplets week

Hello and how's things going? Has it been a good start to the new year or is it work in progress. It's the latter for me. It reminds me of a song from the 90's by D Ream, Things Can Only get Better. Love that song. Anyhow onto business.

We had the topic of Triplets on The Craft Barn Blog . I decided to make a set of three ATC's. It's been ages since I made any. What I also played with was Liquid Pearls. I used them with a brayer to build up layers to make a background with a lovely pearly sheen. You can find the full step by step HERE.
I used Lin Brown's stamps on the background and used her little cool owl for my main image and coloured with Copic Pens.

I'd love to know what you think of the background and what else you can brayer with, other than paint and ink?

The Craft Barn Blue

Hello and thank you for popping by today. I'm sharing my make for this week on The Craft Barn Blog. Our topic is Blue.
I've gone for a textured mixed media piece done in my MDF book. Full details of how I made it is over on the Craft Barn Blog. The Tando Splatters mask and Paperartsy stamp made me think of the puffy dandy lion clocks floating in the air. Just thought I'd share that titbit. Also the new challenge for the year has begun it is the Alpha / Dictionary challenge starting with B and a new letter on Sunday. See post below for my design team inspiration.

The Craft Barn Alpha/Dictionary Challenge

Hello hello, I'm here to share the latest challenge news at The Craft Barn Blog.

We still have the weekly challenges and the new yearly challenge has been launched. It is Alpha / Dictionary Challenge. This was done back in 2013 where I participated as an entrant each fortnight. I thoroughly enjoyed it and used it to try lots of different techniques. My end result of a filled dictionary is still out and myself and the children enjoy looking through it. So do come and join in.
Apologies for my late blogging this.

The first letter is B and the next letter will be announced on Sunday. There will be some added twists along the way.
I've chosen Butterfly for my letter B. I'm doing a straight altered dictionary. To prepare my pages I stick multiple pages together using a glue stick and take out spare pages. I then mask my word and either use gesso or gel medium as a base.
This is the best way (after taking part in 2013) I found to make a sturdy surface and allowing room for some texture and dimension without the book bursting at the binding.  I have used Tim Holtz stamps and my new Inktense Pencils and some white paint dabbed around the sky. These pencils are brilliant to use, vibrant and versatile. The Craft Barn is great for crafty supplies and their SALE is on.

There are different ways to create and make for the challenge as an alternative to an altered dictionary so do check out the blog. See you there.

Paperbabe Stamps Sketch Challenge

Hello and a good day to you. Today is the launch of the latest challenge over on the PAPERBABE STAMPS BLOG and this fortnight is a sketch challenge. (pic below) So do pop over and say hello and get entering as there is a prize for the winner.

I have made an A5 size card for this challenge. I have rotated the sketch 90° and tried something new to me using the HERRINGBONE MIXED MEDIA STENCIL with Stazon ink pads in cherry pink and purple, a glue stick rubbed over the stencil and then transfer foil in two gold colours rubbed on randomly. You can see a photo of this below. I've then splattered some black paint across the background. My main image is my new stamp MAYLEEDEE KIMONO STAMP , she is coloured with Copic and Chameleon marker pens and her hair is dome with a mix of black, greys and lilacs. The card is finished with buttons and gems. You can buy them here at the PAPERBABE STAMPS SHOP where THE JANUARY SALE IS STILL ON
